Sustainable Big Bend, Inc. makes plans for 3rd annual Green Living Expo 2009
February 10, 2009
Now that elections are finally over, we can direct our attention to other matters of interest, moving away from the idea of Red counties or Blue counties. Let's think about a Green county and mark your calendar for March 21, 2009 for the 3rd annual Green Living Expo & Education Fair. 2009's Expo promises to be bigger and better with new topics centered on local food and famers and sustainable modes of transportation. While much of the greenliving workshop format of the last two years remains; we will add several out door practical workshops and two extended workshops on rain barrel construction and making natural skin-care products from goat's milk. Last year we had over 50 vendors and this year we are planning for even more offering products and ideas to promote sustainable living. We have expanded our children's programs and activities and the central theme will be creating awareness for the environment and concepts surrounding sustainability. The 2009 Expo will also feature some fabulous local food vendors and new this year will be entertainment by a number of local artists.
The Sustainable Big Bend committee is looking for sponsors and vendors for this year's Expo as well as volunteers who can help the committee in coordinating the event or who can devote time the day of the event or both. If you would like to sponsor the Expo, please call Toni Livingston at 926-3510; for vendor information, contact Pam Portwood at 926-2415; and if you would like to volunteer for the Expo in March, please contact Heidi Holcomb at 926-7643.
